The Public Works Department only picks up Town-owned garbage cans along 1st Street and at Town-owned properties such as parks and street ends. Private garbage is hauled by Waste Management Services, who can be reached at 800-592-9995 (M-F 7 am - 7 pm) or visit their website by clicking here.

The Town's parking lot is located one block south of Town Hall and requires a parking fee from 8am-6pm. For cars, light trucks, and vans the parking fee is $5.00 per day. Recreational vehicles, heavy trucks, and buses the parking fee is $9.00 per day. No overnight parking. No parking fees after 6pm.
The Port of Skagit County maintains a lot two blocks north of Morris Street at the corner of Second & State Streets, and requires a $5.00 per day fee and a $7.00 per day fee for oversized vehicles.
There is street and other designated parking available throughout the Town that does not require a fee.
Parking citations may be issued if you are parked illegally. Fines vary depending on the offense. There is a 50% reduction if the fine is paid within 24 hours.

Parked cars are only an issue when they are inoperable or parked on a street right-of-way longer than 72 hours.

The Town of La Conner provides moorage at Benton, Calhoun and Washington Street end floats. Visitor Moorage is available on a short-term basis to visiting boat owners and charter vessels. No commercial boat access is available. We do not do reservations for moorage. Our rates are $0.75 per foot per day for moorage inside or outside the float. We do not have hourly rates for moorage. Payments can be made via the credit card kiosks located at each float. Larger vessels (over 45 feet) should call ahead to Town Hall for permission before docking at the Benton Street end float.

Yes! The Town of La Conner has a charging station with two spots at 1st Street & Washington Street next to the La Conner Waterfront Café. The fee is $1.00 per hour. Our charging station is part of the ChargePoint Network. For additional information including availability status click here.

The Town has a reservation system and fees for large groups wishing to use the facilities at Pioneer Park. Contact Town Hall for reservations at 360-466-3125.

A Right-of-Way Excavation Permit is required for any work within Town-owned rights-of-way. Please apply for this permit at least 24 hours in advance so that emergency response staff and drivers can be notified. Please contact Town Hall at 360-466-3125. Call 1-800-424-5555 48 hours before you dig. The Utility Coordinating Council will contact all affected agencies, who will then mark any affected utility and/or service lines in order to prevent damage from occurring.

Most streets are maintained by the jurisdiction where they are located. Therefore, the Public Works Department maintains most of the streets. The Port of Skagit County maintains the streets in the North Basin area, and Skagit County maintains the roads leading into the Town, including the roundabout and the Rainbow Bridge approaches.

If there is glass debris or non-hazardous material in a road, please all Town Hall at 360-466-3125. A service request will be generated. Please be prepared to give specific information such as exact location, cross streets, and a description of the problem. A clean-up and street sweep request will be forwarded to Public Works. If there is an auto accident or hazardous waste in the road, call 911. Again, be prepared to give specific information such as exact location, cross streets, and a description of the problem.

The main streets are swept on Friday mornings on a weekly basis throughout the year and twice weekly during spring and summer.

The Town's street sweeper is a regenerative air vacuum sweeper, which means that no dust is vented to the outside air. This creates a very efficient vacuum, resulting in less fines and materials being deposited in catchment basins.

Most streets within the Town of La Conner are public streets. This means that residents may not declare parking space along residential streets as no parking or resident parking. However, no parking is permitted within 15 feet of a street corner. If you feel that a street corner needs to be painted, please contact the Public Works Department at 360-466-3933.

Street lights are maintained by Puget Sound Energy. In order to report a street light problem please contact Intolight (the maintenance branch of Puget Sound Energy) at 888-225-5773. You may be asked for specifics such as the 12-digit pole number, location and exact nature of the problem (for example, whether the light or lights cycle on and off, are on all the time, or never come on) because maintenance workers will report to the site during daylight hours. Some repairs may take as long as seven working days to be made.

You may be asked for specifics such as the location, the direction of travel, whether the light is on a pole or on a mast arm, the color of the out light, or what type of sign is down or was removed.

Please contact the Town Planner at 360-466-3125 to see if you need a permit to trim a tree. In some instances, Public Works will trim trees along the right-of-way.

A permit is required to plant a tree in the street right-of-way. It is also required if you are removing a tree or if you plan major tree care. If you believe a tree needs to be pruned, you should contact the Town Planner at 360-466-3125 to determine if a permit is required or if the Town can do the work for you.

Your Utility Bill is usually made up of charges for the use of La Conner’s Sewer, Water, and Storm Drainage Systems. Please note that if you are located outside La Conner Town limits, your water rate does not include sewer and drainage charges. Meters are read on the last day of every month unless it falls on a weekend. Meter readings are entered into electronic hand-held readers to decrease the chances of misreads, as well as to save time and money.

The Town's water is purchased from the City of Anacortes and comes from the Skagit River near Avon. For general facts relating to the Town of LaConner Water Services area and testing, please look at the Town's Annual Water Quality Report.

We require meters to measure water use, establish equity in paying for water used by each service, and to encourage water conservation.

Our water is tested daily for chlorine. It is tested twice monthly for E. coli. Other tests are conducted on a periodic basis according to state law.
